Inclement Weather

Delayed School Openings

In the event of a delayed opening due to inclement weather, school will be starting an hour and a half later (the delayed starting time for Old Bethpage is 10:45 AM). For those whose children take the bus, this means you will need to be at your designated bus stops an hour and a half later.

The District uses an automated phone system called Parent Link that will call all families in the event of a delayed opening.

If you are in doubt about a delayed opening, you can go online to the POB Central School District website at http://www.pob.k12.ny.us.

Emergency School Closings

In the event that schools are closed or delayed in opening because of inclement weather or other emergency, the following radio and TV stations will be notified and will make announcements, usually from 7:00AM to 9:00AM.

In addition to the media announcement resources listed above, the district will provide information on the POB Central School District website homepage at http://www.pob.k12.ny.us.

Note: With the cooperation of the Plainview Fire Department, arrangements have been made to sound the fire siren at 6:30 AM, 7:00 AM, and 7:30 AM promptly. When the emergency conditions warrant the closing of the schools, listen for the signal.

Childcare

In the event of a delayed opening, the morning Child Care Program will be open at the regular time. In the event of a school closing such as a snow day, the Child Care Program will also be closed. For more information on the Child Care Program, contact Cindy DuBoff at 349-4776 ext. 249.
