Dear Parents,
Everyone is welcome to attend our next PTA Book Club meeting on Thursday evening, May 12th at 7:30pm in the school library. The selection for this meeting will be The Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother by Amy Chua.
Please join Mrs. Gray, Mr. Richman and other parents as we discuss this controversial best seller. If you haven’t joined us in the past, we would love to have you attend this informal, relaxing evening.
Thank you and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or to let me know that you are planning to attend.

Congratulations to our Engineering/Robotics Team #353 who has just returned from the International “FIRST” (For Inspiration of Science & Technology) Robotics Competition held in St. Louis, Missouri. The International Competition hosted over 344 teams – 88 in our team’s division where they finished in the TOP THIRD!! Over 60 countries and 3500 teams every year participate in the program “FIRST Robotics”. All participants in this program are WINNERS! FIRST Robotics is NOT just about the “winning” – it’s ALL about the Engineering Learning Experience! Over 14 million dollars in scholarships were awarded in this year alone… AND over 95% of the Engineering Program participants go professional.
Aside from the awesome learning experience at the International Competition in St. Louis, a PRIVATE Concert by THE BLACK EYED PEAS was held exclusively for the FIRST Robotic students. This Black Eyed Peas Concert will be featured in a Television Special on SUNDAY, AUGUST 14, 2011 on ABC entitled, “FIRST I AM”.
OUR VERY OWN JFK HIGH SCHOOL Robotic Team #353 may be appearing on camera in this production. Please set your DVR or tune into this program to see what FIRST Robotics and our Engineering Team are all about.
